New photos show scale of 900-car blaze at Motorhog in Doncaster

These pictures show the aftermath of a devastating blaze at a car lot in Doncaster in which around 900 vehicles were damaged.

Firefighters were called at just before 10pm on Friday to a car lot on Bentley Moor Lane, in Carcroft, which was identified by eyewitnesses as the Motorhog.

Crews from several stations along with a number of specialist appliances were initially deployed to the scene and worked throughout the night to tackle the blaze.

But the fire service said the incident had been scaled down at around 8am this morning, August 1, with only three engines left at the scene.

In an update shared shortly after 1pm, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “This fire is now out and firefighting operations have stopped. A fire investigation, into how the blaze started, is now under way.

“It is thought that around 900 cars have been damaged in the blaze, however there have been no injuries.”
