At Concord Sports Centre every Thursday from 10am to 11am, there is a multi-sensory coffee morning while EIS Sheffield is running a mother and baby spin and tone class on Fridays from 10am to 10.45am.

SIV is part of the not-for-profit Sheffield City Trust (SCT) whose primary objective is to improve the health and wellbeing of Sheffield people by providing facilities for sport and leisure activities.

Ayesha Mir, group exercise research and innovation manager for Fitness Unlimited, SIV’s health and fitness scheme, said: “After having a baby, many new mums want to start getting a bit of time back for themselves. With childcare and time the two most common barriers for taking part in physical activity, we have designed our new classes to be both mum and baby friendly.

“Our fitness instructors provide a very relaxed and safe environment with the flexibility for mums to bring their baby in the pram, car seat or just lay on a mat and have a kick around!”

The two-part mother and baby spin and tone class offers a changing environment with the first half of the class taking place in the spin studio with a large colourful video screen for entertainment before mums and babies move to the fitness studio.

Natalie Wilkinson, from Chesterfield, attends mother and baby spin and tone. She said: “I am already feeling healthier and re-gaining some shape. I really look forward to the session and my baby, Harriet, loves it too, especially with the changing environments. I also enjoy being around like-minded people and sharing experiences.”

Classes are open to all new mums and are £3.75 a session or free for Fitness Unlimited members. For more information Click here
