New homes on site of former Sheffield school given the go-ahead

Plans to build more than 60 new homes on the site of the former King Ecgbert Upper School in Dore have been approved.

The land where the school once stood off Furniss Avenue will be redeveloped with 64 properties, ranging from two-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached houses.

Outline permission was granted two years ago, and the designs were amended since they were originally submitted to improve the road layout, footpaths and reposition plots which back onto existing houses on Furniss Avenue.

Councillors considered concerns raised over the scale and mix of the housing types, the impact on neighbours’ privacy and the effect of 250 new residents moving into Dore.
