New garden for city hospice

Convenience food manufacturer Greencore Group donated £3000 and the gardening skills of its staff to produce the stunning Primrose Garden, outside the end of life suite at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, in North Anston.

The new garden has been designed to provide a calm outdoor space for families and friends, and includes a herbaceous border of lavender, hollyhocks and scented stocks, a fenced area featuring passion flowers and jasmine, seating areas, arbours, solar lights and a laurel hedge border.

The Primrose Suite is one of two purpose-built accommodation suites at Bluebell Wood, where families can stay with their child after they have passed away, giving them the space and time to say goodbye.

Sandra Hind, corporate volunteer coordinator at Bluebell Wood, said: “Greencore has been very generous to Bluebell Wood over the years but this new project has exceeded all our expectations. From laying the groundwork and planting a beautiful garden to constructing the arbours and seating areas, the support Greencore has given us has been brilliant.

“Our end of life suites allow families to spend valuable time together when they’re facing the toughest of times and this new garden gives them their own enclosed, beautiful space to use as they need to.”
