A Sheffield-based mental health organisation is trying to encourage more people with mental illness on to the football pitch.

Football’s Awareness of Depression Football Community is forming an 11-a-side mental health football team in Sheffield.

The organisation is looking for players aged over 16 of any ability.

FAD FC is particularly looking for outfielders or goalkeepers who have, or have experienced, mental health issues.

The group is also giving over-50s the chance to play a new brand of football called Walking Football.

In Walking Football, every time a player runs they concede a free kick.

FAD FC is forming a team of over-50s, male and female.

Sessions take place at Lucozade Powerleague Stadium Way, Sheffield - see
