New firms offered support to set up in Sheffield

A council run project to help new businesses in Sheffield has supported 600 budding entrepreneurs over the last year.

Business Sheffield is part of Sheffield City Council’s economic development agency, Creative Sheffield, and is responsible for supporting businesses in Sheffield to set up and grow.

Councillor Leigh Bramall, the council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Development, said: “We listened to people when they told us that there were too many organisations offering too many services, under too many brands. This was making it difficult for us to support businesses in the way they needed.”

“By introducing one contact rather than several, we’ve made it easier for clients to get the support they need, when they need it.”

Business Sheffield is made up of a team of experienced business start-up and growth advisors who deliver start-up workshops, drop in sessions and one-to one coaching and consultancy.

It also helps businesses who are looking to expand or relocate.
