A prestigious theatre production is coming to Sheffield as part of a new festival.

Pedal Pusher, which has been shown at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is the headliner for a week-long festival staged by Theatre Delicatessen and Sheffield University. It tells the story of Lance Armstrong, Marco Pantani and Jan Ullrich’s battle to become Tour de France champion. It takes place at Furnace Park, an abandoned space in Shalesmoor being regenerated for cultural use.

The festival, from Tuesday to Sunday, July 1 to 6, will aim to explore the Tour’s greater meaning with community-based art and performance workshops.

Roland Smith, Pedal Pusher creator, said the show ‘exposed the dark heart of the sport’ on stage and explored the more contentious aspects of the Tour.
