New faces in council roles

IT’S all change at a North Derbyshire council with several new faces among those appointed to the nine decision-making cabinet roles.

North East Derbyshire Council, which remained safely in Labour’s hands at the local election, retains Dronfield councillor Graham Baxter as leader, a role he has held since 2004. Betty Hill remains deputy leader and is also responsible for housing.

Four of the other roles have been given to newly-elected councillors.

Cabinet roles are: social inclusion, Coun Patricia Williams; environment, Coun Nick Foster; human resources, training and member development, Coun Jack Dargue; community safety and health, Coun Lilian Robinson; IT, e-government and asset management, Coun Geoff Butler; economy, finance and regeneration, Coun Pat Kerry; licensing and planning, Coun Harold Laws.
