New face for kidney unit

A THIRD consultant has been appointed to new kidney unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Dr Mohan Arkanath has taken up his post as consultant nephrologist and has a special interest in renal transplantation and haemodialysis access.

Dr Arkanath was previously a specialist registrar in nephrology at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, and before that he held positions at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton; St Helier Hospital, Carshalton, Surrey; Hereford County Hospital; St James’ University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary; and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn.

Away from work, Dr Arkanath’s interests include singing, having won numerous prizes at university, state and national level competitions. He is a keen tennis and cricket player.

Staff in the Haemodialysis Unit, now part of the renal development, transferred to Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals this month to provide a full and integrated service for kidney patients.
