New era stations

Have your say

Chief Fire Officer, (Star Two, August 4/New era as stations opens). His words I Quote. (Nowadays we plan our resources protecting lives) end of quote. It has never been anything else.

I suggest he reads Part 1 of the Manual of Firemanship like I did in 1966.

1. To save life.

2. To save property.

3. To render humanitarian aid.

To suggest that industrial property was more important than lives I can’t believe.

He probably can’t remember all the thousands that worked in the industry but that is no excuse. The steel works were the biggest life risk after the Hospitals.

I Have never attended an industrial emergency without the Officer in charge asking if all persons were accounted for.
