Dransfield Regeneration Limited has submitted plans to build a new entrance lobby for Valley Medical Centre in Johnson Street.

An existing open lobby area would be covered to create a new approach for patients.

According to the planning application, drawn up by Dixon Dawson Chartered Architects, the existing entrance ‘does nothing to invite people to travel further up Johnson Street’.

It adds: “The reworking of the elevations and change in materials will help provide a quality enhancement.

“A refurbishment in this manner will assist in the future success of the medical centre and will also help underpin the surrounding area and create a sense of place for the community.

“The new enclosed area of the medical centre will make a better use of a currently underused dark area.”
