While the news suggests new life is to be breathed into the site in Vicar Lane Shopping Centre, planning documents state an 'incoming tenant has not yet been finalised'.

Chesterfield Borough Council granted conditional planning permission for the new entrance to the building, which sits within the Town Centre Conservation Area.

Property firm Savills, agent for the planning application, said: "The proposal will not result in any adverse impact upon the conservation area."

The town's BHS store closed last summer after the company plunged into administration.

Nationally, 5,000 BHS workers lost their jobs because of the firm's demise.
