New Doncaster McDonald's drive-thru to create 65 jobs

Plans for a new fast-food drive-thru by a major retailer could create 65 new jobs in Doncaster.

McDonald’s has put forward an application to reorganise the car parks and provide a new restaurant at Centurion Retail Park in Bentley, a move welcomed by ward councillor Charlie Hogarth.

A spokesman for the fast-food chain’s agent, Pegasus Group, confirmed that it was anticipated if the proposal was given the go-ahead by Doncaster Council it should mean 65 new jobs at the eatery.

Coun Hogarth said: “I think it’s very good news, I just wish it was a proper restaurant instead of a fast food outlet.

“It would be nicer if it was a healthier restaurant.

“Bentley has too many fast food outlets, what we need is more options for healthy eating.”

He added: “I’m pleased there’s more jobs being created, people are desperate for jobs, especially closer to home when they don’t have to spend a fortune on transport.

“There’s plenty of people who need jobs and it’s a nice site to get to.”

The Pegasus spokesman added: “We propose that each drive-thru creates 65 jobs but I’m not able to say anything else in terms of figures or economic benefits.”

Centurion Retail Park currently plays host to other big name firms including Home Bargains - which created 50 new jobs when it opened a year ago; Bensons For Beds; Carpetright; Harveys Furniture; Maplin Electronics; Pets At Home Ltd; ScS; and Wynsors World Of Shoes.
