A NEW post has been created at The University of Sheffield.

Peter Agar, formerly of The University of Cambridge, was appointed as the director of campaigns.

Professor Keith Burnett, Sheffield vice chancellor, said: “This is an important new role we have created to work with our faculties to develop strategically vital opportunities for philanthropy.

“In time we hope this work will lead to our own major philanthropic campaign.”

Mr Agar said he looked forward to helping the university reach its ‘ambitious goals’.
