Frances, of Westwoodside, said: “There are so many discount boutiques for adults and I wondered why this couldn’t be the same for children.

“We are living more frugally as a nation, and why can’t a shop offer both a boutique experience along with little prices?”

The store was named after Frances’s 19-month-old son, Oscar.

Frances, aged 23, said: “He had a reputation as a baby as a bit of a chunk and it stuck with him for a nickname.

“I suggested the name with Rachel and it made us both smile. And if something makes you smile you should stick with it.”

She said they chose to open in Epworth because of the great community spirit in the area.

Frances said: “Unlike other children’s boutiques we don’t stock current season – this is why our prices are so low. We aim to price on par or lower with high street brands.”

There is also an room upstairs which Frances plans to loan out to small arts and crafts businesses.

“We want the shop to be a real hive of activity, and hold regular shoppers evenings for parents where they can relax,” she said.

An official open day for the shop, 40 High Street, is not yet known, but it is hoped the store will be open by mid-0ctober.
