New date set for walkout

REMPLOY staff have set new dates for a seven-day strike over proposals to sell off the company’s Chesterfield factory to a private firm.

All 56 Remploy sites around the country are set to be closed or sold after the Government decided to end a subsidy given to the company and help mainstream companies employ disabled people instead.

Some 106 staff at the Chesterfield factory were due to strike this week. The walkout was postponed to resolve legal issues and will now be held from Monday until Monday, September 10.
