New Croatian flight takes off from Doncaster Sheffield Airport

A new route to the Croatian city of Dubrovnik has been announced from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Thomson and First Choice has announced the new destination as part of their summer 2017 flying programme and tickets are on sale now.

Karen Switzer, director of aviation planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Adding more capacity from Doncaster Sheffield Airport with the introduction of the new route to Dubrovnik demonstrates our commitment to the airport and the local area.

“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”

Chris Harcombe, head of aviation development for Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We are delighted that Thomson and First Choice have added these new routes and with so many extra seats for summer 2017.

“Both destinations complement Thomson and First Choice’s existing leisure routes with us giving great choice for people to fly locally for their summer break.

“This will mark Thomson and First Choice’s 3rd consecutive year of growth and reflects our work with our incumbent airlines to identity growth areas for the benefit of our passengers.”

This latest move follows recently announced flights to ski resort Chambery in France, and Dusseldorf in Germany.

The airport also offers flights to more traditional holiday destinations such as Alicante, Tenerife and Malaga,

The addition of new routes, coupled with growth from other incumbent carriers, is expected to take passenger figures from 900,000 in 2015 to 1.35m in 2016.

Doncaster now offers flights to more than 30 destinations.
