A NEW free, stress-busting course is being held in Rotherham for members of the public.

The five-week course, organised by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, takes place on Thursday evenings from September 8.

Kerry Saunderson, psychological wellbeing practitioner in the primary care mental health team, said: “The stress control classes are beneficial for anyone looking to learn how to manage unhelpful stress symptoms.

“The workshop helps people identify their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours about stress. By the end of the course participants will be able to begin managing stress better and start to adapt their thinking and behaviour styles.”

The sessions are from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, at the Central Library in Rotherham town centre.

Classes aim to help people manage stress using a cognitive behavioural therapy approach looking at how they feel, think and behave. People will learn how to recognise their stressors and symptoms and make positive changes.

The classes are available to anyone over 18 registered with a GP in Rotherham and has stress-related issues.

n People who want to join the course should ask their GP for a referral or ring the primary care mental health team on 01709 302630.
