FLASH new pads are being opened for dozens of elderly people in a South Yorkshire village.

The region’s latest Extra Care complex, Cherry Tree Court, in Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe, is being launched with two open days on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.

Inside the scheme, there are 60 apartments all for rent, managed by housing association, Chevin.

There are 59 apartments with two bedrooms and one apartment with one bedroom. The complex has large lounges, a laundry, hairdressers, library, lobbies and a restaurant and coffee bar which will be open to the general public.

Members of the public can attend the open days.
