Tom Barrasso has had a large proportion of his forwards out injured - a casualty toll that has been a major influence on their bottom of the table status.

Steelers have scored seven goals in their last four games and are in need a re-energised offence. Phillips said: 'He (Barrasso) knows he is not seeing the full Steelers yet and that must frustrate him with so many guys out. We just have to do our best until the troops return. As players we want to play games and show him what we are made of. Hopefully, on Wednesday against Fife we get a body or two back.'

Philips added: 'I'm confident that Robert Dowd is nearing a return and we've missed him. 'Dowdy is a shooter. A scorer, he gets into spaces and is an offensive threat all the time."

Phillips says there is positivity in the camp despite the injuries and results.

"The great thing about this sport is that the games come thick and fast.

'The new coach is passing on his experience and I think on Saturday in Nottingham we saw that we were getting back on track."

Steelers host Fife Flyers tomorrow night - they lost 1-4 to them in Scotland earlier this month.

Fife forward Paul Crowder was named the Elite League Player of the Week, this week, after his four goals and an assist helped them into second place in the league table, extending their winning league run to six.

He says his team will be ready to go, adding "Sheffield is a tough place to go."
