New bungalows will cut council house waiting list
The new homes will be built on the Meastead estate in Royston and will account for half the new build bungalows in a £3.2m project from the council, with the properties to be managed by Berneslai Homes, the company which looks after the council’s housing stock.
They will be let to people already on the council house waiting list.

The decision to go ahead with the work was taken by the council’s ruling Cabinet and was welcomed by Coun Tim Cheetham, who represents the district.
He said: “Local members have worked long and hard to secure this. We are using this space, which is the right space, to build properties which respond to local need. We have a lot of residents with mobility disabilities,” he said.
