NEW: BMW car which hit and killed South Yorkshire grandmother Sue Gravel found by police

Sue Gravel, aged 62, of Ivy Rose Court, Stainforth, was killed in a hit-and-run by a stolen grey or silver BMW car on Saturday afternoon as she made her way to Asda on Station Road.

She suffered fatal injuries and was taken to hospital via air ambulance but sadly died.

But today, Inspector Mark Hughes said officers had recovered the stolen car found abandoned in the village of Rawcliffe near Goole, 10 miles up the M18.

Inspector Mark Hughes, who also spoke at the press conference today, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Susan’s family for their support during what is a very upsetting time for them all, and our thoughts are with them.

“Our investigation continues in earnest and the recovery of the BMW is a positive step but we still need help from the public to identify those responsible for this crime.

“Did you see the BMW on Saturday morning or afternoon? Did you see it driving in the Stainforth area? Do you know who may have been involved in this incident?

“It is important we trace the person driving the BMW and anyone else who may hold information about this collision as soon as possible.”
