Right Up Our Street (RUOS), which aims to get more adults choosing, making, seeing and sharing cultural ideas across Doncaster, is holding a community choir taster session at Bentley Baptist Church, Askern Road, on Wednesday April 20, 7.30-8.30pm.

The choir has been set up following an enormous interest from local people to have an opportunity to get together and sing. The session, which is for 16 year olds and over, is drop-in and no experience is necessary.

The choir will be run by gospel vocalist Janine Dyer, who has performed in international dance clubs, been a backing singer for artists such as Chaka Khan and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and runs a successful community choir in Sheffield already so is experienced in choral directing. She appeared earlier this year on The Voice and is keen to start a new community choir based at the church she attends in Bentley.

Lydia Caprani (pictured), from RUOS, said: “We are delighted to be announcing this first taster session of the Bentley Community Choir and we are thrilled that Janine, who has so much experience with choirs and singing, is involved. The community wanted this to happen so now they have the opportunity to make sure it continues and thrives by coming along to this first session.

“If the interest is there the choir will continue.”
