NATIONAL- 25 dishes your kids should be able to cook by the time they're 11
Spag bol and scrambled egg are the top dishes parents should have taught their children to cook by the age of 11, according to parents.
Cooking as a family could reduce waste, as 56 per cent of parents believe children are far more likely to gobble up healthy food if they have made it themselves.
The average UK household wastes £51,000 of food over a lifetime.
One of the main reasons for this is fussy-eating children leaving food on their plates, research by Samsung has revealed.
In a new UK-wide initiative to reduce food wastage by encouraging families to cook together, MasterChef finalist Emma Spitzer has released free recipes for the top 25 dishes children should be able to cook by the age of 11.
