Naked hotel guest hurled abuse at staff and police

A man from Sheffield has admitted outraging public decency – after emerging naked from a storage cupboard at a hotel in London, and racially abusing a member of staff as he was bundled away.

Joseph Small, aged 20, had stripped off on the fourth floor of a Premier Inn in Leicester Square in London.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard that he committed a sex act, and also urinated on a carpet, before being wrapped in a towel by a hotel worker and escorted to reception.

Once there Small hurled abuse at a Bangladeshi member of staff, telling him: “This country has been taken over by al-Qaeda – go back to Pakistan.”

The defendant then urinated in the hotel lobby in front of guests, shouting: “I come from Sheffield in England.”

He also racially abused two police officers who arrived to arrest him.

He caused £450 worth of damage.

Small admitted criminal damage, racially aggravated harassment and outraging public decency at the hotel on October 31.

Izolda Switala-Gribbin, prosecuting, said Small had travelled from Sheffield to make a deal on a used car.

He will be sentenced on December 3.
