Mystery ticket buyer proves kindness is alive and well in one Derbyshire village

Neil Ferguson-Lee was trying to buy a ticket for his car at Cromford railway station on Monday morning when he had what he described as a ‘complete meltdown’.

Neil said: “I could not get it to work with my credit card and a queue was forming behind me.

“In the end – and in a state of complete and utter funk – I had to abandon my car, unticketed, to catch the train as it was actually rolling into the platform.

“Upon my return, a ticket and note had been placed under my windscreen wiper.”

The note read: “Sorry, hope you don’t mind. I saw you struggle to try and pay this morning and didn’t want you to be fined.”

Neil added: “I owe a kind person my sincere gratitude.

“It was a kind and lovely gesture.”
