Mystery of girl in a pink coat

POLICe are appealing for information after a young girl in a pink coat was seen walking along a main road.

Nottinghamshire Police said no child had been reported missing but officers were contacted by several callers who saw the girl, aged between five and eight, walking along the A60 near the Cresswell turn off at Cuckney on Thursday, at about 8.30am.

Officers have conducted searches in the area and carried out house-to-house enquiries, but the girl has not been traced and no one has reported a missing child.

Police said she was wearing a pink coat and carrying a back pack.

A police spokesperson said: “We are keen to identify this girl to make sure she is safe.

“Her welfare is the most important issue to us and relatives should have no concern about calling the police if they think she could be the one we are appealing for.”
