My View, Bill Morrison: Cash may turn fracking debate around

There is talk that the Government may look to pay compensation to people who are affected by fracking taking place near their homes.

So it seems the Prime Minister, Theresa May, is contemplating giving away some of the fracking cash – a sound idea indeed.

Now I wonder how many will switch sides when they get the sniff of pound notes that are being talked about.

Funny how the promise of money can make some people see things differently.

n I gather Christopher Biggins has been evicted from the Big Brother House because he expressed what sounds like a tongue-in-cheek opinion.

How often have we all done that?

Yes he could have been a little more sensitive.

But then I must say I have heard similar comments spoken many times on the street, and the television and without malice.

Look at the Irish, Scots and Welsh.

They have all been the fodder of other people’s humour and have been for years.

When will society start to look at things in context and stop getting paranoid at what someone else might think?

And before you ask, no, I am not anti-gay anti-Semitic or anti-anything else.

But I am of a generation who could take honest criticism on the chin and laugh at ourselves and see humour in life.

n We oldies had a bit of a natter about Mr Donald Trump recently.

His arrogance level is off the scale.

And I fear that his ability to put his foot in his mouth could take us into World War III.

America needs to wake up before their country is overwhelmed in racial unrest and the rest of the world alienated.

You will be on your own America if you don’t get a grip before it is too late.

Hillary Clinton may not be a great choice.

But she is the lesser of two evils.

n Men only swimming sessions?

They are being brought in at a swimming pool in Luton, apparently.

Hmm, now who would have thought that we would ever bow to the demands of a minority?

This is a country of equality, tolerance, democracy.

I think that is high time that we started to exercise those democratic rights.

Minorities have the right to be heard.

And if their argument is strong enough then it should be acted upon.

But otherwise we should not be dictated to by any group or section of society who disagrees with those fundamental values which are the basis of the British way of life.
