My kestrel's home at last safe and sound

She came back to the garden and was on our fence when I went to feed my other birds.

I offered her some food but she flew off.

I put the others away as they had been out sunning themselves on their perches.

I put some food in the aviary but she wasn’t coming so I fed the others and she tried to steal my male kestrel’s food through the aviary wire.

I shot out from my hiding place as she’d gone down between the aviary and the fence and quickly offered her some food.

She grabbed the food and I grabbed her and put her back in her aviary.

After a thorough check she is fine and has suffered no ill-effects from her time out.

I’d like to say a big thank you to Simon Dell for his help in locating her after I’d thought her completely lost.
