Yes I remember the pikelet man. He seemed like an oldish chap, tall and slim with a brown smock and traditional flat cap.
He must have had a massive round because, although I lived on Wordsworth Avenue, it didn’t matter who you spoke to about him, they would say, yes, he comes around our estate, and I’m talking about people living on estates such as Wybourn, Manor and Arbourthorne. It must have been the same fella because everyone describes him the same. By the way, we still buy them, but get ours from the Co-op.
