Musicians get their chance

WANNABE musicians hoping to take the entertainment industry by storm can now develop their talents using pioneering facilities in Rotherham.

Rotherham College of Arts and Technology is now home to the new Roland Music Academy - one of only three in the country and the first in the North.

The partnership between the college and Roland Music UK - leading makers of synthesisers and keyboards - has led to a specialist training centre which will house music equipment and feature courses run by professional musicians.

The centre is open to school leavers as well as people already working in the music industry, and offers qualifications and training courses.

Curriculum manager for performing arts, Martyn Howells, said he was extremely pleased the college had been selected.
