The first film to be shown at Sheffield’s new drive-in movie cinema has been confirmed.

There has been massive interest from fans since plans for the facility on Milton Street in the city were agreed and announced this week.

On Sunday April 26, the launch film will be classic musical Grease. Pulp Fiction and Top Gun will be shown in May and June before viewers get to vote on their choices.

Tickets go on sale today from Ticketweb.

Organisers Movie Park are donating a percentage of profits to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston.

Movie Park director Karen Thorpe, of Nether Edge, said she had been ‘inundated’ with enquiries since the story was first reported in The Star.

Sister company Bank Park, a charitable parking firm for Bluebell Wood and St Luke’s Hospice, previously hosted drive-in movie events.

At the new events in Milton Street, Sheffield street food firm Percy and Lily’s will provide food themed to each film.

It is hoped the event could be rolled out to other cities.

A Halloween event is planned and screenings will take place on the last Sunday of April, May, June, September, October and November.

Tickets are £20 per car or £5 for cyclists and pedestrians without seating.
