Murdered South Yorks pensioner named as man is charged over killing

A 75-year-old woman found dead at a house in South Yorkshire has been named by police after a man aged 23 was charged with her murder.

Doreen Walker was discovered at a house on Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth, Barnsley, at around 5.35pm on Wednesday.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died of multiple injuries.

Liam Naylor, aged 23, of Junction Street, Barnsley, has been charged with Ms Walker’s murder and appeared before magistrates this morning (Saturday).

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Sheffield Crown Court for a hearing on Thursday, April 17.

A 17-year-old girl, also arrested as part of the investigation, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
