Murder suspect quizzed by detectives after shooting in Sheffield street

A man arrested over a fatal shooting in Sheffield remains in police custody this morning.

The 30-year-old is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after Assel Al-Essaie, 23, was shot dead in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Al-Essaie died of a gunshot wound to his chest after an attack in Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe.

He had been attending a family celebration for his twin sister's engagement when he was shot.

He was rushed to the Northern General Hospital but could not be saved.
