MURDER PROBE: Detectives seek answers over death of South Yorkshire man

Detectives investigating the death of a South Yorkshire man are holding a 'day of action' in the area where he lived in the hope of cracking the case.

Steven Fretwell, aged 47, was found dead in his house in Kingswood Avenue, Laughton, Rotherham, in December.

A post mortem examination revealed that he died of multiple injuries and four men, aged 21, 26, 33 and 35, were arrested over the death and later bailed.

Detective Superintendent Matt Fenwick, the officer leading the police probe, has officers in Dinnington today hoping to uncover vital information which will help solve the case;

He said: “We believe the answer as to who is responsible for Mr Fretwell’s death could lie within the community.

“Our officers will be in Dinnington today, flooding the area with our presence, to appeal to members of the public for information.

“During the course of our investigation so far, we have explored numerous lines of enquiry, spoken to a number of witnesses and analysed extensive amounts of CCTV footage.

“Today, we will be handing out posters and speaking to members of the public, with the hope of gathering as much information as we can to find out what happened to Mr Fretwell.

“If you’re in the area, and know anything about what happened, or saw Mr Fretwell in the day’s leading up to his death, please come and speak to us.

“Any information could prove helpful to our investigation."
