Murder probe continues after South Yorkshire man dies following collision

Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a man who was struck by a car following a row in a South Yorkshire street.

Richard Broughton, aged 37, died in hospital yesterday after a collision with a car in Welland Crescent, Elsecar, Barnsley, on Friday.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police said Mr Broughton died 'after suffering fatal injuries following a reported altercation and collision'.

The car involved in the collision, a Suzuki Swift, failed to stop at the scene of the crash and was later found abandoned in the Shaftesbury Drive area.
