A murder investigation is under way after a young man was stabbed to death in Sheffield.

Joe Walker, aged 23, from Intake, was fatally injured on land just off Raynald Road, Manor, at around 5am on Saturday morning.

A post-mortem examination of the body has revealed that Mr Walker died from a single stab wound.

His family have been informed.
Raynald Road and nearby Waltheoff Road were cordoned off yesterday while detectives investigated the killing, and a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said the streets may remain closed today.

The spokeswoman added: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances into what happened and we ask any witnesses to contact us.”
