Mum’s tragic tribute to ‘gorgeous baby’ days before he was mauled to death by dog
The mum of a 12-day-old baby mauled to death by a dog in Doncaster made a heartbreaking post on Facebook just days before the tragedy.
Newborn Elon died after being savaged by the family’s Chow Chow crossbreed Teddy at a house in Woodlands on Sunday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after he suffered severe injures in the attack but he sadly died later in hospital.
His mum Abigail Ellis, 27, who was arrested along with father Stephen Joynes on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, made an emotional post on Facebook just days before the horror at the family home in Welfare Road.
Commenting on a photo Joynes, 35, had shared of the new arrival on Facebook, she wrote: “Our gorgeous baby boy –love him to bit's (sic).”
It is understood that the mum has three children from a previous relationship.
A number of floral tributes have been placed outside the family’s home while hundreds of friends and neighbours have paid tribute on Facebook.
According to reports, the dog was kept in a pen in the back garden but had managed to escape, racing into the house and gripping the baby in its jaws.
Yesterday, police confirmed that investigations into the tragedy were continuing as shocked locals continued to pay their respects, leaving bunches of flowers in the residential street.
One woman who witnessed the aftermath of the attack said she had seen the dog pulling three police officers into the street as they tried to get it into a van.
It is understood that the dog has now been destroyed following Elon's death.
