Multi-million pound plans

PLANS to build a new £4.7 million enterprise centre have finally been signed off, after fears funding for the project might disappear.

Bolsover Council bosses say the development in Shirebrook will be at the heart of the growing business community in Brook Park.

Funded by a £3.8m grant from the European Regional Development Fund and £900,000 from the council’s Working Neighbourhoods Fund, work should start this spring with a completion date of autumn 2012.

The council’s regeneration spokesman, Coun Alan Tomlinson, said: “The project has faced a number of challenges in the tough economic climate, but those behind the project fought to bring it to fruition.

“This is a massive investment in Shirebrook, an investment that will breathe new life into the area and hopefully kick start the local economy and growth in the town.”

The centre will consist of 35 units and three meeting rooms and will feature the latest in modern technology and communications.
