Plans for an innovative new Neonatal Unit at Barnsley Hospital were top of the agenda when MPs Michael Dugher and Dan Jarvis joined Shadow Health Minister Justin Madders MP on a visit to the hospital.

The new proposed unit will be built around the needs of babies and their families and will be situated on the same floor as the state-of-the-art Barnsley Birthing Centre facility, which means babies will no longer have to be taken into an elevator or be exposed to different environments when being brought onto the Unit. In addition to this, the new Unit will ensure that parents have the space they need to bond with their babies.

Funds for building the new unit are currently being raised by the hospital’s Tiny Hearts Campaign.
