SOUTH Yorkshire MPs are in the pink - joining forces with the Breast Cancer Campaign to promote its biggest annual fundraising event.

On October 28 schools, colleges and businesses throughout the country are encouraged to wear pink clothing in support of the campaign, donating £2 each to help fund breast cancer research.

Last year, hundreds of thousands of people took part in Wear It Pink - and among those involved this year will be Penistone and Stocksbridge Labour MP Angela Smith, and Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey MP, Labour’s shadow health secretary.

Mr Healey said: “Every year in the UK, around 48,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women. Men can also suffer from breast cancer, with around 340 diagnosed each year.”
