MPs investigate equality claim

THREE Sheffield MPs are to sit on a House of Commons committee which will look into giving equal pensions to veterans who left the armed forces decades ago.

Labour politicians David Blunkett, Clive Betts and Paul Blomfield have previously agreed to back the Equality for Veterans Association’s campaign to help soldiers, sailors and airmen who left before 1975.

Members of the association raised their case in Parliament, and it was agreed to set up an all-party group to look into the issue, which must consist of 20 MPs from the Government and opposition.
