A MULTI-MILLION pound cash injection to improve waste water treatment has been welcomed by a Rotherham MP.
Yorkshire Water is spending £78m at its Blackburn Meadows works at Tinsley.
Sludge will be recycled on the site to use as fertiliser as part of the project and bio-gas will also be able to be generated.
Rotherham MP Denis MacShane said: “The treatment works is the single biggest impact Yorkshire Water has on the river Don.
“Improvements to the quality of water will certainly help protect the eco-systems that can be found in the river which should in turn help the fish population flourish.”
New buildings will be built on site for the work.
