MP urges Burma aid
A SOUTH Yorkshire MP has joined efforts to muster support against Burma.
Denis MacShane, who represents Rotherham, told demonstrators outside the Burmese embassy in London that pressure needs to be stepped up on Russia and China.
The countries are opposing the UN policy of sanctions in support of democracy.
Mr MacShane, a Foreign Office Minister between 2001 and 2005, said: “We need a united international response which can only come from the United Nations.”
He predicted the democracy movement would continue.
