MP talks politics with city teenagers

A Sheffield MP has paid a visit to 75 teenagers working at Sheffield Hallam University on the National Citizen Service programme.

Paul Blomfield, MP for Sheffield Central, met with young people taking part in the three week youth empowerment programme, which takes place at venues across Sheffield during the school holidays. The programme is designed to help young people expand their horizons whilst learning key skills for work and life.

Mr Blomfield said: “I first visited National Citizen Service participants in 2015 and saw the impact of their social action in the constituency I represent in Sheffield Central. This government flagship programme enables young people to not only take part in outdoor activities and meet new people but also to give something back to their communities, so I am delighted to once again be able to support NCS this summer and speak about politics with young people. It was fantastic that they showed such enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject.”
