DONCASTER Central MP Rosie Winterton has been made the official patron of a Doncaster family support charity.

Ms Winterton will take up the role at a meeting to highlight the work done by Home-Start Doncaster on Friday at Sprotborough Children’s Centre.

The charity recruits and trains volunteers to offer emotional and practical support to families who are struggling to cope.

Ms Winterton said support was given by the charity for many reasons, including isolation, multiple births, lone parenting and illness or disability.

She said: “Home-Start is an excellent organisation which makes a difference to many families who need emotional and practical support here in Doncaster.

“It is a privilege to be Home-Start Doncaster’s patron.”
