A Sheffield community venture providing movie matinees, activities and advice has been praised by a city MP.
Meg Munn, MP for Sheffield Heeley, visited the Link Community Hub on the Stradbroke estate, which was set up to help residents who were struggling financially and to tackle isolation among the elderly.
The Link is run by 17 volunteers and holds coffee mornings, a drop in for young people and internet access for job seekers.
Its centrepiece is a shop – the profits from which go back into the community.
Mrs Munn said: “It is fantastic to see members of the community coming together to improve their local area.
“The Link is a great initiative which can break down barriers and build bridges between different generations.
“The team should be very proud of the work they are doing – they fill a need in Stradbroke.”
