Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey has challenged the Government’s VAT returns on fuel for the region’s air ambulance.

John Healey was one of the main signatories to an Early Day Motion in February this year, asking the Government to refund to air ambulances all the VAT they pay on fuel.

He told MPs: “We are asking for a small contribution that will be a big boost to the efforts of those who support and keep our air ambulances flying across the country.”

More than 150,000 people have showed their support by signing a petition.

Mr Healey described the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as ‘the airborne wing of the Prime Minister’s big society’, It is funded by the public to provide a vital emergency service.
