MP Rosie opens new garden for OAPs

DONCASTER Central MP Rosie Winterton rose to the occasion when she opened a new garden for the residents of Armthorpe's Old Rectory Nursing Home, on Church Street.

The garden includes a wild flower area, which is designed to attract wildlife, and a water feature.

It was funded by a grant from the Care Home Fund for the Elderly which is aimed at improving the environment for elderly residents. Doncaster’s total allocation from the fund for 2007 to 2008 is 385,000.

Ms Winterton said: “I was delighted to open the new garden at the Old Rectory Nursing Home. A lovely garden can make a real difference to someone’s quality of life, simply by having somewhere pleasant to sit and relax whilst enjoying the plants and wildlife.”

The Junior Armthorpe Elmfield Band under the leadership of Hayden Griffith MBE played at the opening.
