MP nominates local pharmacist for award

A Barnsley MP has nominated a South Yorkshire businessman for a national award.

Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher nominated Steven Lo, also of Barnsley, and his business Lo’s Pharmacy Group for a Pharmacist Award, which celebrates forward-thinkers in the community pharmacy sector.

Mr Lo started his very first pharmacy in Pontefract in 1992. 25 years later, Lo’s Pharmacy Group has branches all across Yorkshire, dedicated to serving the local communities in which they are based.

Mr Dugher said: “Steven Lo has worked tirelessly to provide friendly, innovative services to patients. His business has grown over the years to help and support communities across Yorkshire and I am proud to put him forward for a Pharmacist Award for the brilliant influence he has had on our local communities.”

“These awards are a way to recognise the brilliant work pharmacies like Mr Lo’s do for our communities, at a time when we risk losing up to 3,000 pharmacies to the Government’s planned cut to the community pharmacy budget, it is now more important than ever to highlight the value of local pharmacies to the communities they serve.”

Results will be announced on June 30.
